Breakfast cereals are today a staple breakfast food in many parts of the world and especially in United States. They were invented as a health food and they were that until commercialization took over and today they have high levels of sugar which makes them easier to be sold to children.
Muesli was invented in a similar way as other cereals – as a hospital food but it remained healthier than other cereals because it didn't change much in time. It is still considered health food.
Oats began as a wild weed but centuries of cultivation made from it a multifaceted useful plant. It is used as animal food but also in human nourishment with many beneficial characteristics.
Corn flakes are result of religious beliefs, experimenting, accident and very shrewd advertising. They are still popular today, some 100 years later, and are a part of morning routine for many people.
